Jusy watched this on demand and it was excellent. It is a doc about the band recording Achtung Baby in 1991

I know the U2 purists will hate this but I love that album.

I'm a U2 purist and I love Achtung Baby.

I consider you a serious fan. I meant the ones who refuse to listen to anything after Joshua Tree.

This is me, and I love Achtung Baby.

That album is great, so is the documentary.

the doc is very impressive. it is hard to imagine now but U2 came thisclose to breaking up in 1990-1991 and the process of making Achtung Baby in Berlin brought them together
the best part of the whole doc is the Edge takes out a DAT tape from a jam session where they were working on Mysterious Ways. Midway through the first bridge he suddenly starts going through the chord progression of ONE and you have this Eureka moment where a moment of real inspiration was recorded on a DAT tape 20 years ago.

Ratle and Hum is last album I like by them. So at least I go a stage past Joshua.

hum, I really don't know any U2 purist that are like that. I can see some not liking anything after AB, but pretty much all the biggest U2 fans I've seen love it.
Me, I'm really not a purist cause I even like some of their stuff after AB

I had a roommate in college that hated AB when it came out because it was so different from all of the rest of U2's work at the time. He eventually came to like it, but he hated it for a good 6 months or so.
Personally, I'm a huge U2 fan, but after Zooropa I only like about 7-8 songs or so. I loved the hell out of AB even when it came out though.

Didn't call them real fans. But there's always those geople that don't like U2 after Joshua tree. Don't like REM after Document. That is what I meant.
