So are they just reprising the set lists from the old Joshua Tree tour in 86-87?
Setlist from the old LSU Assembly Center in 1987 (source: u2setlist.com). I got tickets late and sat behind the stage. However, the stage was almost "in the round" and they turned out to be great seats.

comment: During the soundcheck, U2 film a music video for Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). The song itself was recorded months ago at another soundcheck; 30 July 1987 in Glasgow.

Saw them only once and it was in Houston on the Joshua Tree Tour...one of best shows I've seen. Would love to see this tour.

Got my tickets for Dallas/Arlington this morning.
Can't wait to hear The Joshua Tree live!! Missed that tour because I was only 11-12 years old. This is going to be awesome!!

Haven't heard a stadium tour in a long time.
Bono still have the pipes? Legit question.
Bono's voice was strong as ever on the Innocence + Experience tour up to the Phoenix show. I saw them two nights in Chicago and his voice wasn't bad but you could tell he was struggling a bit. Apparently, he was suffering from a cold or something during the time I saw them. Although, he was struggling a little bit on the Paris show that was on HBO.
All that being said, I do think he is going to have a hard time singing the songs live on The Joshua Tree Tour. I was listening to the album today and his voice was so good back then. It's nearly impossible for him to sound that good now. For the record, I never saw the 1st Joshua Tree Tour but did see Zoo TV. In my opinion, his voice was the best during the Achtung Baby years. However, that's when he started smoking and his voice has not been the same since.

U2 has always had a huge undercard. They do a great job bridging their demographic with the younger crowd. I remember when Rage Against the Machine opened for them on their Pop tour. Nuts.
Yep. I've seen these opening acts for U2.
The Pixies
Big Audio Dynamite
Public Enemy
Garbage
Florence and the Machine
Muse

Will be seeing them in Houston for sure. Favorite band of all time and it'll be my first time seeing them live.
Also my favorite band of all time. I'm kind of jealous. The first time I saw them live was on the 1st leg of Zoo TV in Atlanta at The Omni. (Yep, I'm old.) To this day, that is the best concert I've ever seen. Went with some friends who were not big U2 fans and they were blown away. In fact, after that show, they were fully converted. If you asked them to this day they would still tell you it was the best concert they have ever been to. I've seen a ton of U2 shows since but it's nothing like seeing them the first time. I've seen an assload of other bands live, but U2 is still the best in the business. They find a way to make an emotional connection with the crowd every show. They can make stadiums feel like a club gig. Even though Bono is getting older and he struggles with his voice at times, the show you will see in Houston will be amazing. The rest of the band sounds as good as ever.

What a great show! The Bo Deans seem like an odd fit for a U2 opener but I really like them.

That tour, especially the 1st leg in arenas, was absolutely frickin ridiculous. The whole set up was so ahead of its time. In all honesty, I think the concept of that tour would still fit today. Maybe they will decide to do another Zoo TV tour like they have decided with The Joshua Tree.

It sure does seem to affect the attendance of their concerts here.

Forgot about that! I saw the Bodeans at Tips around that time too. Great band. Still listen today. First album they put out right around that time was named after that line in the Stones "Shattered"--Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams.

I slept out for tickets at the Cajundome and those were the best seats I could get. I think that show sold out in like 33 minutes.
As mentioned previously; the Bodeans were an incredible opening act that night.
I remember the band leaving the stage after "40", the house lights coming on and the crowd continuing to sing for like 20 minutes.
