I was told to come here and post this in order to break the downvote record. For the record, I think they both suck.

First downvote.

I told you once and I’ll tell you again, there could not be more polar opposites on the country spectrum. If Turnpike Troubadours was more popular they’d probably be considered pop-country. They are way faster paced and smoother than Childers.

Tyler Childers, on the other hand, is what Sturgill Simpson was supposed to be. He cranks out the old lonesome tunes.

ETA: Even if everyone agrees that they both suck, this is an awful comparison. They just sound nothing like each other.

Waylon Jennings snorted lines bigger than Tyler Childers.

Tbh I always found Tyler childers to be incredibly overrated. He is the Peter Frampton of country music. You say "wait, who is this?" and then it hits you and you change to a different song to escape his whiny voice. Literally, when I hear him sing the image that pops in my head is "Martha left me, there's a tear in my beer, and muh pick up done blowed up and I'm sad" regardless of what the song is actually about

Turnpike Troubadors are literal whos and remind me of what bon jovi was before slippery when wet, a band that no one knows nor cares for and has crappy up beat music that is only known in the area they're from due to consistent exposure to it while drunk on cheap beer and boones farm wine.

Both are trash

And guess what? You can never escape it. It is he and he is it.

Question for you: How many songs have you actually heard? Because I don’t really think a sane person could listen to Creeker or Shake the Frost and actually think “Yeah! This sounds just like those Turnpike Troubadour dudes!”

He sounds like a country Tracy Chapman.

If he would shut up, the background music is tolerable.

just sounds like you don't have any idea of what you're talking about when it comes to accurately discussing and comparing music. i'll note this for your future posts

I tried to tell him. He has some good taste. He likes Sturgill, DBT, and old Jason Isbell.

But he thinks Tyler Childers and Josh Ritter “sound like whiny bitches”

Not as bad as the squealing high pitched voice of Ryan Bingham
