I know. He told me that he went to a Sturgill show a couple years ago, and Sturgill basically said he’d rather be playing in NY than Mississippi. His feelings got hurt.
Sturgill produced Tyler’s last two albums, they toured together, they are both from Kentucky, and they are great friends. He hates Sturgill so much it has spread to Tyler as well.
But they literally could not be more different. Sturgill wore that bright red suit to every stop of the tour. Tyler wore flannel and a hat. Sturgill spews a lot of political BS. Tyler says nothing. Sturgill wants to play in sold out arenas, Tyler is just fine in a bar.

These songs are better than the high-school angsty one you sent me before. That said, he sounds like a wannabe Bob Dylan. There are worse things to be.

I don't have anything against him personally. He's just not that great of an artist to me. It's pretty easy to understand. Everyone has different tastes. Mine don't have to conform to yours or Dudley's. On a broader scale, I think he gets a lot more love as an artist than he merits. Maybe it's because he is one of the few out there in his genre so he is the darling.

when john prine (RIP) and willie nelson are huge fans of his, i'll take their opinion over yours
I like Prine and love Willie. That doesn't mean I need to take their word as gospel for what I should like. It's fine if you base your musical tastes on someone else's opinions rather than your own. That's just not me.

I don't have much time for artists who shite on their audience, and especially when it's in a packed venue in my hometown with people that paid good money to see him play and sing. I don't think I've ever denied that Sturgill is a gifted talent. He is. He is also a shithead. They are not mutually exclusive.

I don't hate Sturgill and I don't base my musical tastes on what one artist thinks about another. See my previous post and my post indicating that I would want to listen to the bluegrass version of Metamodern.

That comparison isn’t 100% awful. He’s a folk artist. Bob Dylan is a huge inspiration for Ritter. Don’t see how that makes him a wannabe though.

You just have some really bad takes that aren’t even logical or accurate.

You’re still here?
Beyond obvious troll. A week ago you had no clue who Turnpike Troubadours is. You’ve listened to two Tyler Childers songs.
And worst of all, you’re from Indiana. If you are gonna spew garbage, stay out of the country music threads.

We got anchored goddamn it.

I had heard of them before a week ago but not outside this board, hence my very real take
You can be mad but it's the truth. As for "but you're from Indiana and don't care about muh deep sad song about muh fat gf and muh beat up pick up on a dirt road" you're right, i dont. I don't listen to country much. I find most to be way too melancholy, or more often than not, fake hickish hence my preference for rock even as a teen. With the rolling stones I don't have to listen to cringeworthy songs like "them boots" or whatever it's called by Eric church, nor whatever that annoying song is with the lyrics "bonfire out in the sticks. [Something] with home grown hicks" nor other trash about drinking down by the lake.
And to say that my status as a Midwesterner disqualifies me from telling you a band is very much unknown outside of the area they're from, you're wrong. I have never heard of them mentioned anywhere outside of here. No one I know irl has heard of them. You do not hear them played here, people do not listen to them on their phones nor pull them up for others to listen to. Why? Because they are literal whos from Louisiana and are not well known.
There's as close to a non troll post as you're gonna get from me in this thread

Yeah dude no one has heard of Tyler Childers. That’s why his third studio album, “Country Squire,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums and American/Folk Albums charts. And why he was nominated for a Grammy.

News reaches Indiana much slower. In twenty years they will discover Tyler Childers

If you will do me a favor and learn to read you will understand that this
Was about the Troubadors back on page 1, not childers.
As for childers, I think I've listened to maybe two songs by him. As I said i am not a country fan. I do not listen to much of it. I think I own a whopping 2 country albums that aren't by Steve Earle. Childers is the Muhammad Ali of modern country for all I know but it is still fun to trash talk musicians and stir people up cause that's what the internet is for.
Also
So he almost won something? So did the browns
