Jack has done an amazing job of pulling some "has been"s out…Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson, for example. His Third Man Records has also put out some really good shite, like Neil Young's recent acoustic album. Jack's been doing work over the past few years with his record company.

Rock music could use more trite and banal knuckleheads and a lot less pretentious musical "geniuses" who only seem like good musicians because they are being compared to other musicians who play the simplest music on earth.
Simplicity isn't a bug of rock/pop music, it is a feature. If it can't be played by four kids in a garage, it's probably a terrible rock/pop song.

The geniuses are the ones pushing the art form. Jack White and his ilk are stagnant, and whats the point of art that doesn't evolve?

i know you're trolling, but if you listen to jack's first cd with the stripes and listen to anything from his solo stuff, you can't tell me with a straight face that he hasn't evolved.

They aren't pushing shite. All they are doing is intense navel gazing that goes nowhere and calling it boundary pushing. No, it's just being a crappy songwriter. And jam bands are just circling over well-trod ground of the past 40 years. It's trying to recreate Haight-Ashbury. Jam bands are essentially step backwards from free-form jazz. Charlie Parker blows their doors off, if we want inward navel gazing.
And how isn't Jack White pushing the form forward? You may not like it, but the White Stripes completely stripped down rock to its bare essentials, a guitar and a drums. It's the musical equivalent of Dogme 95, the cinematic vow of chastity. He moved the form forward by taking elements out and trying to create music without any extraneous motion. It's incredibly interesting from a theoretical standpoint. What are the base components of pop music?
He's played in fairly divergent bands, stylistically. The Dead Weather is pretty dissimilar from the White Stripes. He's shown an instinct for reinventing his music repeatedly.

Not really.
They have shifted from psychedelic prog rock to a more rock-based platform (known to some as "dad rock") as far as studio output goes. On stage they still transcend genres from prog to rock to funk to reggae to blues.
