I am a new Tool listener and those plus Pneuma are my favorites.

Really love Descending...

Some newer Tool fans like myself may not think this album is their favorite, but I LOVE this album. Not really anything to complain about. I do like the fact that all of the major songs are 10+ minutes long. Perfect amount of time.

Here's how I rank the songs on the album:

Pneuma
7empest
Invincible
Descending
Fear Inoculum
Culling Voices

18 months later and my hot take was wrong.

Fear Inoculum is a Masterpiece of the highest order. Invincible is challenging my current favorite song of ~38 years. Who knows what tomorrow brings, but this album gets better with literally every listen

Much respect for coming back and saying this, I've loved it from day 1 and it's only growing on me. I just went through a long period of not listening to it, and putting back on is blowing me away all over again

I literally just quickly read this entire thread and I appreciate yalls posts, wisdom, and opinions about the album/Tool. I enjoyed it.

Honestly in terms of the albums, I would rank them like this though it tends to change often:

Lateralus
Aenima
Fear Inoculum
10,000 days
Undertow
Opiate

Gonna go ahead and call it here: Descending is my favorite Tool song of the entire catalog.

If you aren't getting goosebumps for "Sound the dread alarm..." then you don't like music.

Pneuma and 7empest are still my favorites, but I keep going back and forth on Invincible and Descending. That's is what's crazy about their songs. One day I like one song, the other day I like the other.

Speaking of Tool, all of the guys have been pretty active on social media... Not a ton of silence, so hopefully they are doing something with all the extra material they claimed to have had.

Don’t need another 13yrs.

Still loving this album as well. I can’t believe it has been a year already since I seen them live. Hearing 7empest and pneuma back to back was insane

A couple years later and this album has only planted its roots deeper into my soul.

Every track is excellent.

Pneuma is special.

Pnemua spurs emotion in me that's hard to describe,

Descending makes me feel like I'm floating in the sky,

Fear Innoculum makes me question every time I hear it if they tuned into the future vibe/energy somehow since it came out in Aug 2019 and the song is about a contagion (virus) of fear analogy and overcoming it, crazy pertinent even to this day.

Invincible always puts me in a mortality headspace, thinking of my past lives and where I'm headed, this song is really special.

They are doing a huge tour in 2022, I might have to catch them again in Feb.

I'm listening to Descending on repeat now. I liked it the best on first listen. Then, I kind of focused on Pneuma and, particularly, Invincible. I still like Invincible because of a particular linkage to the lyrical content. However, Descending is incredible.

And the album continues to get better.

I’m late to the party and I’ve listened to this thing like 6 times now and I think this is my favorite album.

I like how it’s a lot more chill and ambient than their other works.

Never thought they would do something better than Aenema.

Phenomenal record, masterpiece.

It still blows my mind that these dudes took 13 years off and then delivered something that’s as good as anything they’ve ever put out. Album is a fricking masterpiece.

From the Mirage hotel in Vegas. That whole night was surreal and tons of people listening to the leak all at once. Great night and very exciting if you ended up in the discord and the subreddit that night.
