I agree completely. I was the opposite. I loved 10k first time. Music is preference and I won't bad mouth people for what they like. I'm enjoying the album Immensely but I just feel a disconnect from instrument and vocals. Could be the result from such a long break.

Same. I loved 10K days and wore it out, but then a year later, couldn't stand it and probably rarely ever listened to it until the last year or so. I just had no desire. I gave it a few more spins and it's pretty good, but I still think it's their weakest album.

Preach on. Your ears know what they like and so do mine. It doesn't bother me one bit whether you like or don't like a piece of music.

There certainly is a feeling of this, even with me. But I feel like it's intentional. Go see APC's latest album, Maynard is all up front, in your face, and has great vocals on that album.

This album he takes a back seat, much like he does at live shows, in the dark shadows in the back corner of the stage, and to me, on FI, it's more like his vocals are in service to the songs, rather than the other way around.

Between Penuma, Culling Voices, and Descending it's some of Maynard's best work IMO.

It certainly feels intentional to me.

Pneuma man...what a song. I finally listened with my good headphones last night. There are a lot of layers to this thing.

Pneuma will probably remain one of my favorite Tool song for a long time.

At this point, Pnuema is my favorite Tool song, which is crazy to think about.

It is so fricking good, Justin's bass and the groove, the pendulum swinging nature of it, the times where it just swings out, and comes back hard, the ending, maynard. Every time it "ends" and nails you right away gets me every time. I have smiled ear to ear listening to this track for days now.

That song is special, to me worth the entire 13 year wait alone.

Pneuma is really good but i just feel like it isn’t a complete song. I hate saying the same thing but all my argument/opinion is that. Lol

It very well could be intentional that he take a back seat. The recent APC is too much of his harmonious voice. My perfect version of Tool is stuff like 46 and 2, Sober, The Grudge , and a mix of 10000 days song and Schism in there occasionally.

Maynard's just not angry any more.

He's living his best life, Hes 55, owns vineyards, restaurants, he left. LA and it's literally living in Arizona Bay.

He has definitely mellowed and evolved, and this album reflects all that

I miss some of the more intense vocals too but it does not bring the album down at all to me, it's done really well

You won’t be disappointed. I was gonna hold out until my wife (who doesn’t really care for Tool) sent me a link for the leak. I couldn’t resist and all I can say is wow. To be gone 13 years and come back to put out an album this amazing is mind boggling. It exceeded my every expectation.

Except for 7empest, where he's like, alright Undertow and Hooker with a Penis just had a baby.

It's crazy how much parts of that song sound like it came off of Undertow. It's a nice homage.

Yep and with that understanding, I love the album. I just have this Game of Thrones type thing where it was supposed to happen a long time ago and I wanted something that was supposed to be a natural next step in line. Instead of that, I get a 15 years later type of scene that tells of how they progressed.

I'm having a real hard time with the vocals. Maybe it will grow on me.

Come on midnight. Haven't heard any of these tracks, including the single and the two that have been played live.

I'm ready

Where can one access the leak? Because I can't possibly wait 12 more hours for my digital pre-order to come through
