If it weren't for The Beatles, Pink Floyd wouldn't exist.

Now saying that, DSOTM is a fantastic album

Over whom? Paul? nah George? still maybe nah.

One of the worst takes I've seen in a long time.

They are better than Waters, though.

Too hard to prove. It's the chicken or the egg. Sargeant Pepper and the White Album changed everything. Dark Side and Wish You Were Here were reinforcing change albums. The more intriguing conversation should be about the journey each band took. Beatles evolved from Bubble Gum and Floyd from artsy fartsy Avant Garde.

John Lennon could very well be the best rythym guitarist ever.

However, technically Gilmore was better than all three of them. He just was.

Cmon dude. This is absurd. Gilmour’s guitar work is revered as some of the best of all time.
So is Paul's.

I don't really agree that the early stuff was bubble gum. Maybe a few numbers, but they had an edge and harshness from the get go.

Just for the record...

Better guitar doesn't equal better group.

No. Just no.

Richards, Hetfield, and Young are so far beyond Lennon is absurd.

I agree. It's just icing on an already very rich cake.

Maybe, maybe not. Certainly not Young.

Not sure

I may agree with Richards, but a hard no on Young and Hetfield.

Completely different types of music regardless.

You think John Lennon was a better rhythm guitarist than Malcolm Young?

Can you post some songs you offer as best examples of Lennon’s talent?

I actually think these kinds of comparisons are dumb. But if pressed, yes, I don't see how he would be worse. I have a much easier time imagining Lennon playing AC/DC tunes competently than vice versa.

There's too many to mention but I'd start with what inspired "Celebration Day" by Zeppelin. ....that being "Get Back". Although he plays more lead in it, than rythym.

As far as a pure rythym tracks by him I'd throw out Revolution or Ticket to Ride.

Regardless, they're (Floyd, AC/DC, Metallica and The Beatles) completely types of rock anyway. They shouldn't be compared.

All My Lovin' is famous for the relentless triplets Lennon plays throughout the song. It was believed to be pretty revolutionary at the time. It's a fast song, and his stamina and precision - especially during live performances - is highly noteworthy.

Just think what could have been, Lennon could’ve been the greatest drummer ever given his tendency to beat people.
