Try to listen to dopamine again. It’s great.

And Ursa Major.
I can OFFICALLY say that their stuff after dopamine isn’t any good IMO. But I think Dopamine was a pretty solid album. Jenkins rhythmic lyrics were what drew me to them, the recent stuff just doesn’t have that. Dunno what it’s lacking but the soul of 3eb has been dwindling since Out of the vein... I think the really recent music just isn’t good :(

Out of the vein is solid. The reason the stuff after that is ok at best and lacking soul is because Cadogan, Salazar and Fredianelli were all gone. I think all 3 of them sued Jenkins.

Besides a few songs I thought Ursa Major was pretty terrible. The record label made them push something out because they weren’t fulfilling their obligations as a band.

Definitely not their best, but compared to stuff on this latest release... stuff like sharp knife bonfire and water landing are fun.

What is the latest release?
Posted on 8/12/18 at 11:04 am to djsdawg
Well they have a new album coming out on the 24th. From what I’ve heard of the occasional tracks from Spotify it’s way more mainstream of music. His voice is pitchy too I dunno why they didn’t get good takes of it, it sounds great live right now.

t90s throughts:
No, they just are given way to much for the bubblegum hits and no where near the credit they deserve for their deep cuts.
I am a huge 3eb fan and there is no way.
This is 100% correct, if they had dropped London and added Alright Caroline, Scattered, or Gorgeous it would have been perfect. But then by the same coin they could have totally thought that some of the songs that did make it on the record were too racy i.e. semi-charmed life.
The sad fact of 3eb is that losing Cadogan was the end for them. Somewhere in some parallel universe Stephan wasn't a huge douche, hadn't gotten the band to turn on Cadogan, and the continued to make music amazing for years to come. There would be great recordings of Gorgeous and Seperation, Out of the Vein would have had the edginess it deserved, and no one would have ever had to listen to Self Righteous.
Honestly, I keep thinking that Stephan may have a moment of maturity like Glenn Frey did and say screw it, let's give our fan what they want, get the band back together. If it didn't happen this year for the 20th anniversary it never will.

Anyone gone and send Cadogan at an XEB show? I wish they would come close to me

I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend.

I went a few months ago they played at a club like 100 yards from my house. Sound guy was horrific and the lead singer was getting so mad it was throwing the whole show off. I was half embarrassed that such bad feedback was happening in the venue I go to a lot, and half kinda disappointed that someone who plays that often couldn’t kinda bare through it for the song. He acted like a total baby.
The band sounded great though, I talked to arion for a while after the show and he’s a super nice guy.

God of Wine and The Background are 2 of the best songs they’ve ever done.
The 2nd half of Motorcycle Drive By when it picks up is so epic too.
I Want You is one of the most soothing songs ever as well…

I’ve listened to their debut album start to finish more than any other album. I love how the album starts out very poppy and just gets much more darker and melancholy as the albums progresses ending with god of wine

Always thought they were kinda lame because I heard their poppy hits nonstop on the radio. Saw them live a couple years ago at a casino and they put on a great show, still not a fan though.
They had a TON of people at the show singing along. Very shocked they still can draw that many people.

Third Eye Blind is criminally underrated
First 2 albums are absolute gold. I enjoyed the one from 2009 too.
I recently saw the the SNL where they played How's It Gonna Be, and it was great.
Even the supposed bubble-gummy anthem they take so much heat for (Semi-charmed Life) is actually a fairly unique tune that is in no way simplistic.
I think my alltime fav is Deep Inside of You, though.

One of the most annoying and overused descriptors is “criminally underrated.” You could just say “very underrated” or just “underrated.” But no, you have to be the guy who probably uses that descriptor quite often.
