definitely a pretty random year for music and probably one of the last great ones for the music industry before Napster ruined their con of having you pay $20 for a CD taht had 3 good tracks on it.

Was glad to see my two favorite albums of 99 (Emergency & I and Keep It Like a Secret) had relatively lofty placements on a fairly mainstream list.

The Fragile is far too low on that list.

I don't know how Jay-Z is #2 and Dr. Dre is #12. I like Jay, but 2001 is a landmark rap album.

Still DRE, Forgot About Dre and The Next Episode were monster hits and there's no filler there. Peak Eminem, Snoop still in his prime...

I know this board hates rap, but it boggles my mind they didn't rate 2001 top ten.

Somg wise, I hate Summer Girls by LFO more than any other song ever. I have hated it for 20 years and I'm not stopping.

3 songs that were always on the radio but not listed:

Eiffel 65 - Blue (mentioned in the article)
Lil Troy - Wanna be a Baller
Stroke 9 - Little Black Backpack

Good times

Wow, is there a worse year for music than this? I liked exactly two of those songs. I bought one of the albums.

Were the 2, La Vida Loca and Thong Song?

I had the opposite reaction. Popular music was more fun in those days. This is a classic old person statement, but there was diversity in 99 that there just isn't now.

The article heading asking if Thong Song was Sisquo's creative peak also cracked me up. He's clearly never going to write an incisive line "she had dumps like a truck, truck, truck/thighs like what, what, what" ever again.

I mean, that was basically a list of what's wrong with music. Just terrible, terrible shite.
