Boogie Long was fricking awesome. Dude has some insane skills and he's young. Interesting mix of the blues notes and like metal sounding stuff. Thoroughly enjoyed his set.

Apparently he is from here in Baton Rouge but I had never heard of the guy until today. Will definitely be on the lookout for him in the future.

He seems to sit in with warren haynes a lot.

And I always go to the festival alone a day or two, I think thursday is the best day to do it that way because it isn't so crowded.

Jazz Fest was great this year and couldn't have asked for better weather.

So true. Polar opposite from last year.

He plays in BR a lot... I have been watching him for a while and he is great. He is always playing around BR. He just toured with BB King last summer after winning best young blues guitar player in the southeast.

Well another Jazz Fest is in the books. Praise Jah we had such beautiful weather for the duration of the Fest. Good vibes to all and see you next year.

Was there on Sat., but had zero intentions of getting in the massive crowd to see Springsteen (seen him several times, and while I enjoy his live shows, that crowd was ridiculous). Stumbled into the blues tent and caught Roy Rogers and the Rhythm Devils. Rogers is a fantastic guitarist, and he was accompanied on several tunes by a guy playing a harp (not harmonia - an actual symphony instrument) that was on a wheel, and was being lugged around while the musician was dancing with it (guy had to weigh 400 +). Was a really good set of music.

Interesting...Morello is the man. I have seen his solo project The Nightwatchman twice (got to meet him after the 07 NOLA HOB Parish show), a sit in with Tool, and of course with Rage Against the Machine. That RATM show stands as by far the most energetic crowd I have ever seen.

Morello played with Street Sweeper Social Club (Boots Riley lead singer) at Voodoo a couple years back. Murdered it. Maybe my favorite Voodoo show, and I go every year.

SSSC - Promenade

I'll never understand the hate for the man and most of the people that hate on him seem woefully ignorant (calling Morello far right wing? that might be the most inaccurate statement in MSB history).

The funny part is that the man is one of the few famous people to actually mingle with the public, get out there, and fight for his ideals. Graduated from Harvard. Will stay after shows and mingle with fans for the hell of it. The dude's genuine.

Carlos Reyes was the obese gentleman playing the harp during Roy Rogers' set. He is not pictured in the photo you posted.

Boogie is a regular sit-in at the Blues Room on 3rd Street, he usually plays at least one Friday a month there. I heard about him probably 2 years ago, he's a BR native and he's played with BB, Kenny Wayne, DR. JAHN, and a lot of touring big name blues acts. He shows up to Guitar Center randomly and will just melt faces for a couple hours playing new stuff (He won their King of the Blues contest back in 2011). Currently has the greatest 'Ooooh face' on the circuit:

Great stage presence, he plays behind the back, over his head and even mingles with the crowd while playing. As with most virtuoso's, he's also a complete dick.
