Frat guys also arent your typical party goer. They act like complete jackasses and are basically a nuisance at shows. Its almost like they are making fun of the music with how they act. Most are probably rolling but I dont think thats an excuse to act like a retard.

Anyone else notice this crap?

Yup, but it's not just limited to Frat guys, it's all types of bros. Went to Electric Zoo in NYC the past 2 years and at about half of the dubstep sets I end up having to flee some Jersey Shore type jackass in the middle of the set (i.e. "dancing" into you when it's obvious they're just trying to start a fight).

There are several fraternities at Auburn that wouldn't ever even consider letting that shite be played at their house. God knows it wouldn't be played at ours, and I can't say I've seen much of it at other houses. Honestly it's considered pretty geedy by most southern fraternities I've been around. Just my observation.

Yeah definitely my least favorite genre. I can at least handle every other type of music I've ever heard, but that stuff is unbearable. I have no respect for it, and won't be convinced otherwise. Sorry dubstep fans, I just don't get it.

Anyone listening to that kind of music in my frat would have been balled.

that doesnt mean the guys arent going to the shows. in college, my roommates were in a fraternity and i never heard electronic music at their house during parties but that didnt stop plenty of them from going to shows and whatnot.

If that were the case they would have always been there.

It's just that dubstep has become, literally, so commercialized. I mean, for Christs sake there is a freaking KMart commercial with 7 year olds walking the cat walk to dubstep. Every other song on the radio has a dubstep remix!

Probably just haven't heard any of the good stuff. I, generally speaking, feel the same way about rap, but even I like a few rap songs. I find it hard to believe that you can handle rap, but not this stuff.

Probably what your opinion of dubstep is based on, Skrillex

Nice, simple jam
Starts of slow, but has a more traditional "drop" in the middle
less loud, electronic noises, and more wobbles; good vocals
another simple jam
new twist on an oldie
a non-lyrical song to add variety; probably closer to what you are used to

I don't expect you to love or even like all of those, but certainly you don't find ALL of those unbearable and unrespectable.

there's so much judgment in this thread. Who cares who attends a show? Just go and enjoy the music you went to see. I understand that the crowd can affect vibe, but c'mon.

blame Sonny John Moore

Dubstep, DJs and house music works really great in spin class
Which has nothing to do with frat guys

I see it on my facebook from younger relatives that are in frats.

Though I actually like a little bit of techno.
I used to go to Raves, though my last one was Kaffeine Halloween 2002, so damn twelve years. I feel old now.
