I happened to catch the very first concert in the AC: Potliquer. Soon after I saw The Carpenters. Also caught so many others including Willie Nelson and The Grateful Dead.
I happened to see J Giels at the Centroplex right after that OBrown shite was going on. The gestapo bastid had dancing at shows made illegal. Peter Wolf implored the crowd to get up and dance because if all 10,000ish of is did it then they couldn't stop us. He was right! JGeils proceeded to blow the place up in response!!

The Centroplex is really slacking. Cajundome gets more and better shows in a smaller town.

That Metallica show was the last one I saw there too (and my fave Metallica show...I was on the rail up front and Newstead took one of the many joints I smoked during that show and toked on it while he played
) The only other show I saw there was Queensryche opening for Def Leppard, but I remember big name acts like Stevie Nicks and Robert Plant playing there in the years prior.

Queensryche opened that show. I know because the only reason I went is to see them do Operation Mindcrime. I was one of the few there who knew who they were. Most of the crowd was young chicks and their moms there to DL do their horrible Hysteria bullshite.
Bon Jovi was one of the biggest bands in the world at that time and wouldn't have been opening for anybody.

I was at that AC/DC concert in the Centroplex in 81/82? and after someone published an article of what actually went on (the drug use, the drug dealing, the underage drinking, kids passed out on the floor, etc.) that was 'basically' the end of the big acts routinely visiting. I think Rush was the first act to play after the AC/DC concert, and it was so different and subdued. There was no more 'general/festival' seating, no smoking, cops all over the place. It was a strange concert; not at all what we were used to. It all came down to one man who killed the music scene: Ossie Brown. He was a big campaigner against it; it became a 'morals' fight for him. As an aside, I seem to remember a huge dust-up between him and Ozzy Osbourne, when he fought to keep Ozzy out. He did, and a few months later Randy Rhoads was killed in a plane crash.

Earlier I said how I was kicked out of the VH concert. Wanna know why? I was standing on my damned seat. That's all. Was a 16 yr old kid standing on his seat jamming to Van Halen. Oh the horror.
