Tami Neilson: the best modern day Country singer/songwriter?

I happened upon Tami a few months back on one of those Spotify suggestions based on what I was listening to, and ever since I have become hooked. She's part of an Australian Country movement (I never knew this was a thing until recently) that is trying to bring back that old Country sound that has been lost for a while (Patsy Cline and such), and it's been a rabbit hole I have enjoyed jumping into. I keep coming back to her stuff though, and damn it is incredible.

If you have not heard of her yet, I highly suggest digging in. She writes great songs, but her voice is otherworldly. She brings Soul to classic Country, and she does is very well.

I find Country music to be a lost art now as modern Country is extremely stale and cliche. There are some gems out there, but they are not the norm.

- this is what first caught my attention. Strong stuff! reminds me of Etta James voice meets Nancy Sinatra music style.

- just classic female country

Dynamite


Don't Be Afraid
- this is a very bluesy piece that her dad wrote when he was dying. The build up and progression is quite powerful



I hope yall find her music to be as engaging as I have. We need more Tamis out there focusing on good music rather than focus group appeal.
