Can’t agree with Animal Collective though. To me, they made one good album with MPP but that’s
I personally think Strawberry Jam and Feels are as good or better, but I wouldn’t begrudge anyone for feeling different. I can certainly understand those albums not being for everyone.

Actually, most of the bands mentioned do not fall into the timeframe of being formed since 2003:
The National - 1999
Animal Collective - 1999
Deerhunter - 2001
TV on the Radio - 2001
The Shins - 1996
New Pornographers - 1997
Spoon - 1993
Caribou - 2005
Working for a Nuclear Free City - 1999
King G - 2010
The Walkmen - 2000
War on Drugs - 2005
So outside of arguably War on Drugs, who's live production is no where near Tame Impala's, I've yet to see a band posted, who was formed after 2003, that is "better" than them

I was just going on production from 2003 to 2018 regardless of when formed. If they have to be formed after 2002, give me the War on Drugs or Titus Andronicus.
I don’t think those bands are necessarily “better” than Tame Impala either. I just have a slight personal preference towards them.

Welp, didn't actually research years they were formed.

You also haven't seen King G live

I’ll reserve a hot take like that from someone who isn’t a known attendance biased chomper.

How has no one mentioned Vampire Weekend yet?
Posted on 7/27/18 at 7:56 pm to HeadyBrosevelt
I can’t take anyone seriously unless they’ve seen King G at least twice.

Maybe it’s me but I just can’t get into these new bands, especially of the last 10 years or so.
I find myself discovering and rediscovering Deftones, NIN, TOOL, Chevelle, etc on their older albums. If any newer bands are playing similar styles then point me in that direction but this new shite is just “safe” and boring. I hate when musicians are afraid to shred on their instruments.

I could see not liking Tame Impala and some of the other bands in this thread, taste is personal and subjective. But I don’t see how they or say Animal Collective could be called “safe”.

I saw them at Float fest last weekend in San Marcos, and they were the best show I have ever seen live (and I've seen my fair share of live music). Kevin's voice was unmatched, and the visual effects had me losing my mind (might have something to do with all the vitamins I took).

Are Arcade Fire considered sell-outs by this board or something? Not having them in the conversation thus far seems like a pretty glaring oversight.

I thought it was just active in that time period, more so than formed post 2003.
Beach house was formed post 2003. They have a better library than Tame Impala, but not as diverse nor as good live.
Bon Iver would also suit the bill, they certainly do have a great catalog. And they kill it live.

I'm sure many on here would disagree, but this is a good mention. I have liked everything Justin vernon has put out. He also has the critical acclaim. But would this be more of a solo artist mention? Vernon is the mastermind behind all of it.
Arcade Fire started in 2001. That 2003 mark is making this difficult. I'd put them near the top of the list. Funeral came out in 2004, that is their first release. Everything Now is the only really weak release they've had.
Some others that could be mentioned?
Arctic Monkeys 2002 (2006 was their first full length)
MGMT 2002 (Oracular Spectacular came out in 2007)
The Mars Volta 2001 (2002 first EP. Deloused in the Comatorium came out in 03)
Fleet Foxes 2006

Frightened Rabbit and Foals are better than Tame Impala

RIP Scott
Midnight Organ Fight is probably my favorite record of the last 15 years, and The Winter of Mixed Drinks comes close to matching it. But Pedestrian Verse and Painting of a Panic Attack are a step down. Their debut is somewhere in the middle.
Bands like The National and The War on Drugs have been consistently better IMO.
I'd throw Japandroids into the mix even though their last album was weaker than Post-Nothing and Celebration Rock.

I could get behind that. Have you heard the singles they have been releasing the past few months? Really good, classic Hold Steady stuff.
