How would rank these 2 similar powerhouse songs? And am I missing a 3rd that should be considered?
Can’t you hear me knocking
Stranglehold

Can't You Hear Me Knocking. It has more variety, and features Mick Taylor putting on an all time guitar performance. It's just got more taste than Stranglehold, although Stranglehold's thick brooding groove is also fricking incredible.

Stranglehold for me, although it’s close.

I like Stranglehold, but it should be shortened a bit. When I play the bass for that song, after a while I am just over it.

CYHMK
Keith, Mick & Mick!!!
Keith's raw unmistakable riff lead in and Taylor's virtuosity lead during the jam... Great, great song.
Yeah, you got satin shoes
Yeah, you got plastic boots
Y'all got cocaine eyes
Yeah, you got SPEED FREAK JIVE!!!

CYHMK. If I could only show one Stones song to someone who had never heard them before it’d be that one. Much respect for Uncle Ted though.

Are you serious right now? I love early Nugent, but this is a ridiculous comparison.
The Stones shite all over Nugent in terms of musicality.

I like Stranglehold, but Can't you hear me knocking is a legendary song - maybe the best extended jam by a band not known for such things (ETA: and one of the GOAT intros as well).
Plus as others have said - Mick Taylor at his very best (and Keith was great as well on this).

Yeah, Vant you hear me Knocking is more interesting and complex, but Stranglehold is pure fun.

Stones are the superior band, but Stranglehold has its virtues.

The volume swells from the Byrdland during mid solo chill down is pretty cool, add in the tailpiece vibrato and it becomes pretty sick!

Okay now.
Can't You Hear Me Knocking is arguably the Rolling Stones best song. It's so perfect from start to finish. It has everything I love about them. Good lyrics, big jazzy blues moments, infectious rhythm guitar and clean groovy lead. Mmmmm.
Stranglehold is some solid guitar wankery but overall a much weaker song..

That particular song is a bit of an exception, imo.
