From the 46 and 2 thread:

What is the best 2 consecutive album run since 1990 (first of the two released in 1990 or later)?

- Same artist (not a band followed by a member's solo work, for example)
- Releases intended to be albums (no B-side/rarities collections)

I'm excluding the earlier decades here because there are too many bands with runs of 3+ all-timers, with not as many in the last 25 years or so.

Mine: Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

I don’t think I could just pick one. There are so many great stretches, especially when the minimum is two albums. Some I’d have in the running:

Built to Spill- Perfect From Now On and Keep it Like a Secret
Modest Mouse- Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon and Antarctica
The National- Alligator and Boxer
Animal Collective- Feels and Strawberry Jam
Radiohead- OK Computer and Kid A
The Dismemberment Plan- Emergency and I and Change
Wilco- Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
LCD Soundsystem- Sound of Silver and This is Happening
The War on Drugs- Lost in a Dream and A Deeper Understanding
Pavement- Slanted and Enchanted and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain

I’ve probably listed too many and I still feel like I barely scratched the surface.

In the world of rap:

Dr. Dre--The Chronic and Chronic 2001.

Close second is Outkast's ATLiens and Aquemini.

Rock wise, in terms of pure influence:

Nirvana--Nevermind and In Utero.

Weezer--Blue Album and Pinkerton.

It's harder for me to speak on rock bc a lot of my favorites aren't as influential.

Beck- Mellow Gold then Odelay*

Asterisk... the record company released a little known collection of previously recorded material in between those albums to try and capitalize on the unforseen success of Mellow Gold. But it was all recorded prior to Mellow Gold, and only sold 200k copies to date.
