Seemingly every shitty Nashville bro country song does this these days, referencing Ol' Hank, Skynnard, Alabama, Johnny Cash, ect. I see this as a desperate ploy by these artists to say "No, really! We're country! I promise!!! See, look, we know who xyz old country star is!!!" It's almost as dumb as them still acting like brand new Chevys with the lift kit still have bench seats like it's 1975.
