Short but true story. After work in 2000 in a time frame just before the towers went down. A few of the guys in my unit stopped to get a little R&R at a local pizza establishment and they had karaoke going on . We were in BDU's on our way home and this man got up and sung Proud to be American . After the song, he came to our table, bought us a pizza and shook my hand. I will never forget that whole gesture of thoughfulness as it chokes me up to this day. During that 3 minute song, we never talked or took our eyes off him as he sang it better than L Greenwood.

That was the only semi-emo song played at my prom and I got laid repeatedly, so I have fond memories of that song.
I will get laughed at, but The Crossroads used to make me depressed/misty every time. I now laugh at it.
But there is one that pretty much kills me.
The Heart Of the Matter.

Reminds me of a girl I once knew.
Yeah, I have an adverse reaction to Hemorrhage driving through parts of the Yukon once when I heard the thing a half dozen times heading into a questionable relationship across the State. Brings back strong strong memories.
Also I dream in infrared makes me think about the same toxic relationship.
Positive and negative.

the mountains win again
This was one of my best friends songs. First time I heard it we were camping on the shores of the Yankee Cove watching an Nat Geo type sunrise on the Chilkat Mts with our families one Sept day. He lost his life in a small plane accident on the side of some unnamed mountain in the Brooks Range in August of the next year.
