Hell yeah. That song kicks arse. Right up my alley as a big new age fan.
3.5/5

Never heard of him before... not really my style but I can appreciate it. Interesting combination of folk, melancholy, and dark with lyrics like:
quote:
Before they put me to work in a government camp
Before they do my face up like a corpse and say "get up and dance"
Before the beast comes looking for last year's rent
3.5/5, would listen again.

I liked it although for most of the song I was expecting a breakdown into them rocking out a little more. 4/5 stars.
I like the guest vocalists on this tune, Alissa White-Gluz and Elize Ryd.

1/5... to be fair, I'm prob the wrong person to rate that.. definitely not my cup of tea.. a 1 for the effort..
Surf City - Free the City
A great band out of NZ... although I believe they called it quits a few years back..

Definitely not my thing. I can appreciate that they are playing the shite out of that song, I just don't enjoy it.

Much more my style, but I feel like I could barely hear the vocals over the guitars. I guess 3/5 because I did enjoy the music.
I'll get a little weird... Kent - Sundance Kid Heads up, not in english.

3.3/5
Not my cup of tea, but I could listen to a full album on a road trip. Helped to get a lyrics translation. Nice tempo with a melodic beat, a full spectrum mix of bass, including some punch, and a good mix of strings versus neutrally mixed electronics. More importantly the lyrics had that resonating internally feel that transcend language.
next up: Paul Gilbert - Blues For Rabbit - (instrumental warning)

4/5 fun song and the guys all look like real folk. Also no need to add warnings for it being instrumental lol.
Here’s another without singing that I love (Inspired by the Mogwai thread, I’ve been listening to them all morning)
Mogwai - Helicon 1

5/5 I used to listen to Mogwai back in the late 90s early 00s, and I have completely forgotten about them. Great band, and that's a gorgeous song.

5/5 Great song! It's got the feel of "Low Rider" by WAR with a Steve Miller vocal.
"Gimme Shelter" - New Model Army with Tom Jones

Not my cup of tea but I'll go 4/5 for the honest delivery, done without faux melodrama, and remaining true to the genre without succumbing to formula. To be honest... went higher after listening to another live version that was rawer and not as studio smooth.
