McCartney doesn't get enough credit for his bass playing because of playing for The Beatles and because he is much more than a "Bassist". Great vocalist & lyricist and good piano and guitar player too. He is usually in the top 10 in most bass player rankings, although rankings are often a popularity contest. Most people that think he is a sorry bass player simply don't like him or The Beatles. Many of the bassist listed in this post and threads are in the Bass Player Magazine link below so I would say it has some validity.
