How about listening to his albums?

Lyrics are also easy to find online

He could have changed the lyrics as performers often do. I imagine he didnt want to offend media and Hollywood.

It's a 5:30 minute studio song that they wanted cut to around 4 so he cut the last verse, at least that's what I'd read somewhere on the internet so it must be true. Personally I thought he killed it as he always does, but have mixed feelings about his success, love him giving the finger to Nashville/Bro Country but hate the days of seeing him in small bar with 50 other people up in the Hill Country are probably over for a while.

If that was the case, he wouldn't have wrote the song

I'll have to find a clip online and watch...

he changed both "frick"s and didn't sing the "bullshite" lines

understandable, I think, being on live TV and all. He also sped it up to get it in the allotted time

I, too, tuned in wanting to like him. Having read so much praise for him on here, I recorded the show. The music was great, but I don't understand what the point is of writing great lyrics--and I've read some and they're great--if nobody can understand what the frick you're saying.

My wife was echoing this sentiment. She'd never heard of him, and wasn't impressed by him at all, but loved his band.

I thought he killed it but understand how all these people that were hearing him for the first time on the broadcast didn't like it.

He's never claimed to be a country artist. People get a little too tied up trying to define him. High Top Mountain is a fantastic country record, Metamodern is something else all together and A Sailor's Guide is even more different. The dude has talked (maybe jokingly) about making an electronica record.

Point is, just enjoy it for what it is.

No one could hear his vocals well enough to understand him. It was a major distraction from how incredible his band sounded.

Nowhere near as embarrassing as "Just got my Lumineers tickets" and "wife is bringing me to Bruno Mars, can't wait!" Threads on this board lately

I was not a fan of his SNL performance.

Just go listen to his 2013 album, High Top Mountain, and you'll get it.

That's been a problem with most SNL performances I've seen recently.

Their audio engineer should be fired
