It's a bit jarring to hear those songs out of the context of the album, but no one can deny they rocked the hell out of those songs. I would've preferred "Brace for Impact" which I gained a new appreciation for when he performed it (twice) at the Saenger.
But I can step back and realize that perhaps "Keep it Between the Lines" and "Call to Arms" were more suited for the SNL audience.

Those two songs showcase the band more than any of his other songs so I get why he chose them
I think Breakers Roar would've been great because I really like how they do it live. All Around You could've worked as well with the sax solo and it's easy on the ears.

That last song was awful. Just simply noise. People really like this dude?
Whaaaat? As someone who's not that familiar with him I thought that last song was AWESOME! Don't hear enough of that stuff on TV, particularly poppy SNL.

He could have changed the lyrics as performers often do. I imagine he didnt want to offend media and Hollywood
Your mind is a dark and diseased place.

Call To Arms at Farm Aid
He was on SNL and his mic was too low. And he still killed it.
That Farm Aid show is how it usually is
