"We used to joke that the first album should be called The Cars Greatest Hits."
All 9 songs charted and ushered in New Wave.
The first album were you didn't have to skip songs on side A.
"No band has ever knocked out a debut so packed with straight-to-car-radio classics." - Rolling Stone

My favorite from YouTube comments on this album...
'I used to have this on 8 track. Talk about not having to fast-forward this tape. Lol...I eventually bought it on tape and then CD. Every song is a classic.'

This was actually an awesome album. Dude practically disappeared after his next album tanked. Good interview with him last year. LINK
His Debut album Hardline sold over 10 million copies & it's follow up sold only around 300 ,000( thousand ) copies. Damn.
That must be one of the biggest immediate drop offs in Pop music history?
He oddly blames the dark hand of Michael Jackson & Sony records ,but he simply changed musical directions too fast.
Instead of building a solid/ loyal following with a similar sound of the great "Hardline" album he became a little too cute & experimental.

Supposedly, there was no designated single on the album. Stations were just told, "Play any cut".
