I think some people like some bands because they think they have to in order to fit the snob mentality.
A few people, like myself..can appreciate what the Beatles mean to music, but just don't care that much for their songs.

This is essentially what I have been saying about them. I get it, they were transcendent and at the time, were probably the greatest thing since sliced bread. 50 years later, im just not that impressed. It doesn't mean im being a hipster (whatever the frick that even means), it just means I listen to their music and dont like it. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

The Beatles would be the absolute last band I mentioned if I wanted to portray myself as a music snob. I would argue they are the most house-hold name in music. If anything, I think the reverse may be true. What's snobbier than saying The Beatles suck?

So you think that in regards to music everyone should have the exact same opinion? No one should ever say they suck? Because they are such a household name, no one should dislike them. I have news for you, people are different and have different tastes. You will never find two people that have the EXACT same taste in music, including the Beatles.

but seriously, I would never say that Radiohead sucks just because I don't like them. They have a massicve diehard following for a reason. They are doing something right obviously. I just don't like them. I respect their talents though, so I won't say they suck.

All I'm saying is that I don't understand, with all the songs the Beatles have put out and the differing styles they had over the years, how anyone could say that they didn't like a single one of their songs.

Yeah, I don't think I ever said I didn't like any of their songs. I guess you read quite a bit into that little statement. Probably isn't a group around (except radiohead) that I can't find a song of theirs that is somewhat pleasant to listen to.

I live with two people, one who thinks Lil Wayne is the Apex of the music industry as far as talent goes, and the other who won't listen to anything once he has heard it on the radio more than once (extreme hipster/radiohead fiend). I understand differing musical preferences more than most. I'm not trolling or butthurt, but The Beatles do not suck.
