Queens of the Stone Age have had an incredible run.
I will also second:
Sufjan Stevens
John Frusciante
I’ll add:
Beck
I also thought about including modest mouse but their last album was a pretty big dud. I’m also not a huge fan of We Were Dead. It’s ok and I actually loved it when it came out. But it just had no staying power. Their albums through Good News are all home runs, but they don’t make the cut for the last 20 years.

The Moon and Antarctica is my favorite album in this time period, so that alone puts them in contention for me. Good News... and We Were Dead... are good albums too IMO. If we go the past 21 years and Lonesome Crowded West is eligible, MM would have been near the very top of my list.
I'll admit im looking at this a little skewed. I was adding longevity/high output to it and penalizing for the catalog turning to crap in latter years
Which admittedly wasnt the question

That’s a reasonable way to do it. I guess my approach was to weight peaks and classic (to me, at least) albums more heavily. The Dismemberment Plan, for example, has only realeased three albums in the past twenty years and one isn’t even any good. But since Emergency and I is in my top ten records and Change is fantastic, I listed them.

Ditto. As a whole, if you weight the good with the bad then both MMJ and Modest Mouse wouldn't cut it.

starting in 1997 with "Being There" ... Tough to match Wilco's consistent output

Ok then using that criteria I nominate Jeff Buckley the greatest artist of all time

First two records are pure greatness. Everything after is progressively worse.

Yes because we hate bad music

Bon Iver
Dawes
I realize they both only go back til 2007 and about 2009ish respectively, but for my money there is no better music

QOTSA, Mastodon, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are consistently excellent, without feeling recycled from album to album.

These threads inevitably become "who's your favorite artist"

well what do you expect? music is subjective

An objective response?
Radiohead isnt my favorite band. I like them alot, no doubt. But their body of work in the last two decades seems pretty undeniable to me
There's probably 5 other bands I could rattle off that ive personally listened to more in that timeframe

I like all the different input, but that’s just me. If everyone responded objectively this board would be extremely dull.
