Over the past 20 years, what band has produced the best music catalog?

And "band" and "artist" are interchangeable (subject line was getting a bit long)

I believe the correct answer here is Spoon. Every album is good. Every. Single. Album. They refuse to put out bad songs.

I'll toss in Phoenix. I enjoy damn near every album they've released.

Make it 25 and it's hard to not go with Radiohead

I was about to post that I agree on the merits of Phoenix, but that they really only go back 10 years. But then I checked this thing called the internet, and it turns out I was wrong about that. I will have to check out their early stuff.

Not hard for me. But, yes, many would agree with you.

I actually like this nomination. And much like Caleb Followill, I fricking can't stand hipsters.

That said, I either didn't listen to the album they released in 2016, or I did listen to it but have literally no recollection thereof. I'll be able to find out the answer to this question in short order, and if its the latter, that isn't a ringing vote of confidence. Though I remember all the rest of them.

ETA: it was the latter

I thought Radiohead would be the obvious answer to this.

My personal choice would be Animal Collective or The National.

If I wanted to round out a top 10, I'd go:

Wilco
Sufjan Stevens
The War on Drugs
Spencer Krug (with Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown)
The Dismemberment Plan
The New Pornographers
LCD Soundsystem
Titus Andronicus

If you're going by like a band where EVERY SINGLE album is good? shite Radiohead doesn't even do that

LCD Soundsystem did. Have the benefit of only having a handful of albums though.

Just overall though, Radiohead

The ones I would advocate for have all been said (Wilco, Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem). Maybe add Modest Mouse or MMj to that.

They have some really good old stuff. Like early 00s late 90s stuff. Alphabetical is one of my favorite albums.

Thats a horrible nomination. their fall off was epic. considering how amazing they were for 2 or 3 albums

That said, I feel like the answer is easily radiohead

But I could make a strong argument for Deftones at #2

I didn’t mention them, but I did consider them. The Moon and Antarctica is my favorite album in this time period, so that alone puts them in contention for me. Good News... and We Were Dead... are good albums too IMO. If we go the past 21 years and Lonesome Crowded West is eligible, MM would have been near the very top of my list.

When you consider the work he has done in RHCP, solo, and with the likes of Mars Volta, etc., John Frusciante has a fantastic catalog.
