I've been looking at that and everything about it sounds perfect, I just don't have the cash and I can't find a used one online anywhere. This makes me want to wait until I double up on the rainy day fund. Is it literally a re-issued 1961 guitar? Same wood/neck/pickups, the whole package?

40% off of WHAT?? The lowest price I see anywhere is $1,250.

yes, but you could find an original one for the double the price online

Yep, they ain't cheap. However, it's made in the US and will (barring any accidents) last a lifetime of playing. It comes with all the same equipment on the original '61, pickups, neck dimensions, tuners etc. The only problem is it doesn't like to play at low volumes.

My Epi Les Paul Standard is my favorite thing i have ever bought musically or otherwise. It sounded great when i bought it. Since then I replaced the input jack and pegs with gold Gibson parts, put an alnico pro II in the neck, a pearly gates in the bridge, and replaced the tone/vol knobs with push/pull pots.

I had a Studio Premium Plus for about 3 years before I got my Standard. It was a great guitar. I wish I would have held onto it. The Standard is just alot more refined, playable and the particular one I have has alot of mojo and personality. I can play the same lick on it that I would have on the studio and it would have "talked" a little more. Look on ebay for a used Traditional model. They can be found for around $1k if you look for a good deal and those are great guitars.

Try not to put guitars in a box. They are all made of the same thing. Jackson's mid-tier and upper-tier guitars are incredibly well crafted. They are prominent in the metal/shred genre but with the right pickups those guitars are true gems.

You'll be buying more if you stay with it so don't sweat it. I have a Mexican tele with humbuckers that's what Ive played the most in the past couple of years. It was about 500 new. Sounds almost as warm as lp standard to me, but I like the feel of the tele more. And it's plenty warm. Toss up which one I like more. Will never get rid of either one.
