Xanthus was considered kind of the gay gateway to Opinions IIRC
Xanthus was just alternative until Neiman's closed then the gay crowd moved across the street.

Used to go there quite often. I loved some self hating goth girls back then.

Did you know a guy named Emory? Bartender at Murphy's. Definitely worked there in '89 I know.
Was a buddy of mine at Lee High.

Was Xanthus that white barn looking building with the green trim, on the same side of Highland as the Bengal? Kinda halfway between the Bengal and what's now Splash? Come to think of it, that was a description of the crowd and not just the location.
Think it's a church now.
And what did they build where the Bengal used to be? Man, I went there practically every Thursday for drinkin with Lincoln. It's a wonder I'm still alive. Is that where that rim shop is nowadays?

I believe I remember Monday night quarter beer that tasted, well, like quarter beer.
Also remember some very nice looking ladies, some of whom were bi.
How long was it even open? I'm thinking of Fall '86 and Spring '87.

TA's had it, but when they closed, The Bengal picked it up. Except, apparently they did drinkin with Lincoln until midnight at TA's and it ended at 11 p.m. at The Bengal.
Fun fact: The Bengal poured K&B brand spirits for drinkin with Lincoln.

I remember this bar being called Argon at some point, I just can't recall if that was before or after Xanthus.
I know it was called Xanthus at least as late as the mid 90s. I used to go there with my wife when we were first dating and I didn't meet her till 1990.
