good topic. love both artists. have never seen Beck live unfortunately. I have seen JW solo, with the Raconteurs, and the Dead Weather. JW's solo show at Voodoo this year was one of the top performances I have ever seen. His top songs from all three of his bands backed up by some very talented musicians. I vote Jack White.

Not heard one thing from White I like, at all. Love lots of Beck tunes. Lost Cause is one of my all time favorite songs.

While I'm the Team Beck and Sea Changes alone should settle this debate, I'm willing to bet the younger people go for White, bc he really didnt get super famous till the end of the 90's/early 2000's while Beck broke through around 1994 during the heyday of MTV and wrote his masterpiece (Sea Changes) by 2002.
Also there is an entire album with Beck and the Flaming Lips covering each other that is amazing. I think it's live too.
The guy who said that White plays the best 3 songs from Raconteurs, The White Stripes (Seven Nation Army anyone?) and The Dead Weather, also his solo stuff has a solid arguement.
But hearing Beck sing Flaming Lips songs is just as amazing IMO, they were his backing band during the Sea Changes tour.
But lifespan alone tips this to Beck imo.
As good as White's best efforts are from all his bands, are still not as good as the Sea Changes, Midnite Vultures, Odelay, The Information/Guerro albums.
They are all timeless, including some of his Singles (Loser), and the B-Sides on it.

I think Jack's solo stuff is better than Dead Weather, fwiw. In fact, it comes close to the stripes for me. Raconteurs are my favorite of his many forms.

The raconteurs are definitely jack white at his best. Followed closely by his solo work then white stripes then dead weather.
Dead weather never really impressed me tbh

Jw plays warmed over blues. Beck creates great arrangements that draw.from many genres.

Jack White being touted all the time as a "top 20 guitarist" is the biggest load of shite the media is trying to get the world to believe.
He's a great guitarist no doubt, but you can find people better than him on a street corner in New Orleans.

oh BTW Beck simply because Mutations, Midnite Vultures, and Sea Changes are better than anything Jack White has written.

so does jack...he's collaborated with, among others, Jay-Z, Loretta Lynn, Ricky Skaggs, allegedly Thom Yorke, ICP, Jimmy Page, Alicia Keys, the Rolling Stones, Norah Jones, Danger Mouse, and Wanda Jackson.
yeah, but no, jack ONLY plays warmed over blues.

+1.
Is there a song so epic yet ridiculous than "Deborah"?

I find Brendan Benson to be the most talented Raconteur... for my taste...

Jack White is über talented, has a great ear, a great sense for what could be big, and seems like he loves what he does.
That said, it´s still Beck. Stay thirsty, my friends.
