Yeah, apples oranges.
But one is over appreciated, and the other not enough.
Beck is not necessarily underrated, people that know, know. But he doesn't get enough recognition.
Jack White is the opposite, he get's too much recognition.

Wat? how?
His better albums get exactly the acclaim they deserve. Sea Change was lauded by most critics as a masterpiece.Vultures and Odelay the same
Jack is a versatile prodigy. He is quietly creating a wave of more avant garde type guitarist. With many of the masters in awe. He's the Tom Brady of musicians. He makes complete nobodys look awesome simple due to his awesomeness

IMO, he's top 10, but if I were to put that, it would cause a stir on here
So for sake of proving a point, I broadened it a bit.

What do you mean how?
Jack White is far more known by mainstream than Beck..
I said Beck isn't underrated, he get's the proper acclaim, but he doesn't have the same footprint in mainstream. You show a picture of Jack White to people and more would know him than Beck.
Jack White get's overhyped, while Beck doesn't have enough people appreciate what he's done. Imo.

Yea completely agree.
More of an artist in general, I think. While Beck is more of an entertainer, a master of a craft. (It's not that I mean jack white isn't entertaining, maybe you know what I'm sayin).

beck is a more "avante garde" to me
jack white is like a renaissance man though
he can do everything and everyone respects him... multi-talented dude

Beck is under Jack's label, don't know how this could be a sincere topic.

Beck
I've seen both in concert, JW with Dead Weather and solo. Beck's live show is better.

I agree with the poster who said they are two totally different artists... both are good at what they do...
If I had to pick one, I'd say Beck just because he always kind of reinvents himself... and keeps doing it well...

I love me some beck, but as someone else pointed out, there's a reason Beck is now on Jack White's label.
And dumber. How does the fact that jw has a label that beck is on make jw better?
Berry gordy owned motown so hes obviously a better artist than marvin gaye.

No shite, Dave Matthews label (ATO) has quite a few artists I like a lot and I dont like DMB at all. Just proves he has decent taste.. I'll give him that..

If you don't think Jack is a great lyracist then you haven't listened to him.

I believe you called him a lyrical genius. I just dont see that. His lyrics are good, far from genius. Nobody is confusing jw for bob dylan.

I also said of his generation. Bob and Jack are not of the same generation.
In regards to the other point you made, the reason I pointed out that Beck is on Jacky's label is that it shows Jack is not only a great musician but also a producer with an eye for talent/drawing great musicians to his label. That's where I was going with that, though I was pretty vague.
