I thought the same thing...I'd be pissed if I was in that band and drew the same salary as him. For what he brings to the table, he must be the quintessential yes man of the group

I was thinking Dusty Hill, but correct me if I'm wrong.

He is a excellent singer, that's Dusty singing "Tush", not Billy. He has a much higher range than Billy, on "Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers" he trades off vocals with Billy singing the high part. He owns the straight eight bass line that defines the classic ZZ Top sound, Cant imagine ZZ Top with some bass player doing a bunch of slapping and popping instead of just laying down a solid foundation, he earns his third, and then some.

The three other dudes in Aerosmith. Been there forever but that band is Joe Perry and Steven Tyler.

Slipknot have a couple "percussionists" who have banged on shite in the background for over 20 years now.

Brad Whitford is one of those musicians that would be instantly missed if he stopped playing in the middle of a song. Without his rhythm guitar Aerosmith would sound pretty thin. Similar to Malcolm Young/ACDC you weren't sure what he did until he stopped doing it.

As Wyman said himself... Usually the bass and drums are in step - the bassist follows the drummer. In the Stones, it's Keith who follows Charlie and I play a little behind. At any point it could all fall apart in a song.

Or maybe, you see an ad for a once-legendary band coming to town, and after some due diligence, you learn that the only "core" member left is someone no one ever gave a crap about?

Like how Mick Jones, the only original member still in Foreigner, isn’t contractually obligated to play in every performance?

Foreigner played at a Mardi Gras ball I went to, I decided to see how many were original members, I think he was the only one present, and I was surprised to learn that there have been 41 different band members throughout the years.

Are you saying Mick Jones is a not-so-important member? He is the founder of the band. He hired all of the rest of them to be in his band. Writer, producer, lead guitarist. 74 years old and can still play and perform.

Charlie is gold. Ronnie Wood sucks and I've never liked him so I would add him to this list.

The worst thing the Stones ever did was let Mick Taylor leave. Him and Keith were on a different planet when they were on.

The Stones' Ladies and Gentlemen album shows how phenomenal they were as a guitar duo. Keith pounded those rhythm chords and Mick would shred when necessary.

Oh what could've been.

/rant.

He said just the opposite, that you can pay to see a band billed as "Foreigner", and their is no guarantee Mick Jones will be part of the group.

Flavor Flav

Flavor Flav was a musical prodigy as a kid. There’s a story when that shortly after they were signed that Rick Rubin pulled Chuck D aside and told him that’s Flav had to go. Chuck D told him he couldn’t because he was the only one out of them that could make music.

I like Ronnie just fine. He was great in The Faces and he's inspired the Some Girls album and got Mick and Keith talking again in '88.

With that said, Mick Taylor is the best guitarist the Stones ever had. Keith could write (even though Taylor was not given credit on many songs) and Brian was the best musician they've had but the Taylor era is special.
