Credits said it was for a movie with the same title, so no guarantees a new album is on the way.

I thought this song was meh...i love the sound, but i just didn't care for the song much

This made my Wednesday! Thanks for sharing. It says it is from a film so probably not connected to a new album.

I was just searching yesterday for any informationnon a new album.

It's been 3 years since the last one.

I read somewhere (cannot find the article) that he only intends to make 5 albums total, he already knows what the remainder will be about and it may be quite a while before the next one is made.

As part of the exclusive iTunes release of “The Dead Don’t Die,” Sturgill spoke to Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. When asked if he’d been working on a new album, Sturgill responded, “Always. Been working on two or three. Just stocking the ammo up. Mostly been focusing on … I think I’m going to coach some PeeWee soccer, run for sheriff or something. Walk around with one pant leg tucked into my boot … I don’t know man, I make [albums] and then step away. The rest of it has nothing to do with me.”

Sturgill Simpson is well due to release a new album. Word is he’s been taking some time off around the birth of his third son, but a new record is in the can. Simpson was also swept up in the reorganization of Elektra Records, which is the label that has released the new track.

Good for him. I’d love a new album but if he wants to focus on being a good dad, then more power to him. The years when the kids are young go by so fast. IMO he should take a break and focus on his kids.

Surely, that's just a theme song for ghost hunting shows on The Travel Channel.
No way that's going on any well thought out Album.

If I remember his quote correctly, he is going to make 5 (maybe 6) albums and he's going to completely step away. He also said the next ones will be different than his last 3. He wants to be known as a musician and not 'another Waylon Jennings sound.' He went in depth with his reasoning on a JRE podcast. I seem to be in the minority that liked Sailor's Guide so I'm pumped about whatever album will come out next.

I didn't know there were people who disliked Sailor's Guide, it was fantastic.

Most of the social media pages I see are/were people bashing it because 'it ain't frickin kuntry.' But I guess I should chalk that up to facebook ignorance .

I hope his next album is nothing like this and more of a Metamodern/Sailors Guide to Earth cross

Like the song, but do yourselves a favor and skip the movie. It’s God Awful.

I felt the production value was subpar for the “official video”

Didn't like that too much.

Been listening to a lot of Sunday Valley lately. Wish he'd do something like that again.
