New Sturgill record coming this year per his Instagram

Have to admit, Auggie called it. People raised 230k of the 500k goal, and he just posted that “I owe you a record, simply because there’s nothing else to do”
Gotta be acoustic solo right? No way he can produce a Sound & Fury type album in 6 months. Assuming he does follow through with it.
ETA: Announced he’s releasing his entire back catalogue.

Kinda tangential, but do you know how prolific bands and artists were in the’60’s and’70’s? It wasn’t unusual to see them release multiple albums in a year.

I think Sturgill has most, of not all, of his next record in the can. Sound & Fury was recorded in 2017.

I’ve heard this as well. I think what took so long was the Anime film. He had to fly to Japan 10x a year for 2 years to get it right.

I enjoy his music, but the media hissy fits have gotten old. A lot of really, really talented songwriters and performers would absolutely KILL for the kind of media and fan support he's benefitted from over the years. I get it's his schtick to generate sympathy from fans, but it's gotten old.

I think maybe some people don’t quite understand sturgill and the jokes he makes.
I’m glad he was able to raise 230k towards great charities. Also glad he’s going to put out a new album out. I think it’ll be totally different from sound and fury. Some people won’t get it. Some will hate it. But it’ll be art and him doing his thing. Looking forward to it.

He’s releasing his entire back catalogue. Probably will be stuff from Sunday Valley, it will all be old country.

It’s amazing how quickly this board turned on this dude for making 1 album that they all didn’t like. It wasn’t my favorite of his but it’s still a solid rock n roll album. I guess it’s all subjective until it’s not.
