All albums since Portnoy left have been a disappointment. Should I bother with this one?

I think this album could be on the Train of Thought / Octavarium level of heaviness, which is promising. It could be the best record with Mangini.
Now, where that ranks in all of DT's records...yea, probably not as good as the ones with Portnoy.

I think this album will be the best in awhile. The last single released Paralyzes" is really good. Got tickets so see DT in Houston in May. Mike Potnoys band Sons of Apollo is awesome. First album was great. They will be releasing their second album later this year.

I'll check it out but not expecting too much. The first two albums with Mangini had some great songs but the Astonishing was pretty hit or miss.
Paralyzed was much better than the other two releases IMO.

I'm giving it a second listen currently. It's ok.
I like Barstool Warrior and At Wit's End a lot. Out of Reach is similar to some of James' solo stuff. The three prereleased songs are better now than initially thought. I do not like Room 137.
Overall nothing too memorable IMO.

Better than I expected. The production is fantastic and Mangini’s drum sound is finally tolerable. Bass is much more forward in the mix.
Barstool Warrior is great. At wit’s End is also very strong.
