In the City is too good to be considered an Eagles song IMO..
per Wikipedia "The track was first recorded by guitarist Joe Walsh for the soundtrack to the 1979 movie The Warriors; the Eagles liked what they heard and decided to record it for their album The Long Run."
the Lizzies' & Baseball Furies agree with me, the Orphans not so much
to stay on topic...

Pink FLoyd -Sorrow
This song is way underrated in the Pink Floyd library. Gilmour is almost perfect in this song.

Rush - Entre Nous
That is one that has always puzzled me how it did not get radio airplay. It is very mainstream and poppy almost for a Rush song. I think one of the biggest issues Rush had was their ability to recognize songs they had that would go over well with the public. I have always thought that 'Emotion Detector' off Power Windows could have been a huge hit. Was a perfect song for the sound and style of music in 1985-1986.

Turtles-You Know What I Mean
Interesting lyrical/poetic device in some stanzas simultaneously using last word of a verse as the first of the following verse.
The Monkees-When Love Comes Knockin' (At Your Door)
Nice counterpoint vocals Jones and Jones.
The Association-Requiem For The Masses
Proto-anti-Vietnam War song. Not terribly overt, but poignant and respectful.
Crosby, Stills & Nash-Helplessly Hoping
Simple fabulous harmonies, elegant finger picking and the tale of tentative fearful love coaxed to life. Not sure this is an underrated piece simply because I like it so much.
To make some connections of Stills and Nash to CS&N...
Buffalo Springfield-Good Time Boy
A little funk from one of the progenitors of country rock employing a horn section from Louisiana on the track.
The Hollies-Stop, Stop, Stop.
Not unknown but definitely underrated. Quality performance. Unrequited love/lust gone awry.
And if the Beatles can have an "underrated" this is my submission.

Chicago - "Introduction"
Very first song on the first album, so I'm not sure how "underrated" it is, but it's never one that is talked about or played live (would love to see it live, but also understand that Terry Kath pretty much owns the vocals and it wouldn't be nearly as good)

I swiped Dad's CD of "Steppenwolf 7" - a very unique album. "Hippo Stomp" is another good cut from that album. I like John Kay's voice.

Also, Death of an Unpopular Poet by Jimmy Buffett. Seems like no one knows it and it may be his best song.
