Pretty Hate Machine - NIN

I was still listening to stuff like Skid Row, Slaughter, Warrant, and all the other big hair clones. After hearing PHM, my musical interests/tastes completely changed in one night. I instantly appreciated complex arrangements and lyrics with substance. Tough > Fluff.

Pearl Jam- Ten.

Led Zepplin - The 1990-91 or so Boxed Set. Up to that point I really only knew Stairway.

Depeche Mode - Music For The Masses

"Discovered" DM in the Black Celebration era as a teenager and to me it was the strangest most unique sound I'd ever heard. Investigated their back catalog and liked some of it but was not overly impressed. Then MFTM was released and it blew my mind. Then shortly after came Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion which makes that 4 album run one of the greatest of any band in any genre in my opinion.

V, I like the way you think.

'Are You Experienced' is a drug from which I never recovered. Other albums that changed the path for me were:

Van Morrison, 'Moondance'
The Beatles, 'The White Album'
John Prine, 'John Prine'
The Beatles, 'Abbey Road'
Bob Dylan, 'Highway 61 Revisited'
Aretha Franklin, 'Lady Soul'
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, 'Deja Vu'

Picked up my copy right after the Ed Sullivan show 2/9/64 and knew what I wanted to do with my life from there on...be a TV variety show host!

J/k!
