Musicians Thoughts on PRS SE Guitars

Anybody on here own or have played any of the PRS SE line of guitars and thoughts?
The SE line has been changed for 2017 and now include a version of the 85/15 pickups that up until now were only available on the Core US line.
Thinking of ordering this particular one:
PRS Custom SE 24 - Sweetwater Music

I think I wouldn't pay $800 for one.
That seems steep to me. I shopped ad nauseum when I bought my guitar. These were definitely on the list. The 24 and 245. I found several used in the 300-500 dollar range.
I picked some up the other day at guitar center. Really liked them. I loved a245 that I saw. Seemed solid, sturdy, well made. Everything an epiphone is not.
If you suck like me they are MORE than enough guitar. If you are a "musician" for reals, you have a great guitar body to improve upon piece by piece if you want to.

Are they still made in South Korea? I don't keep up with that stuff as much as I used to. I ask because the MIK SEs that have crossed my bench have been pretty nice core guitars, good wood and good craftsmanship, just some component upgrades and some TLC away from being very solid workhorse instruments.

I have had my SE for 10 years and I love it. The SE has really improved over the years. When I bought mine they weren't available with a trem bars and birds inlays. Hell, you probably could just buy an SE now and switch out the pickups and have almost the same quality of an American PRS and spend much less $$. But, I am cool with the one I got out of the factory.

I have a PRS SE Singlecut I bought about 4 years ago and I love it. Now, I'm not a professional, just hack who started to learn guitar about 5 years ago.
I'm getting ready to change pickups to Seymour Duncan P-rails with the triple shot rings.

+1
I don't even really know what it is that makes me hate them so much. There's something inherently douchey and mojo-less about them. There was a time in the mid nineties when we would go someplace where a band was playing and if they came out playing PRS guitars we would drop everything and hot-step it out of there JOP. Kind of an "I'm not drinking any fricking merlot!" attitude.

I never liked them either.
Although recently I have considered getting a single cut SE to fool around with. I hear they are great guitars for the money.

The reason I would like a new 2017 model are the new pickups that are closer to what come in the US made models (85/15) other than the S2's.
The S2's are twice the price of the SE's but are the exact same guitar other than the SE is built in Korea and the S2's are bult in the US.

If you like it, and can afford it, buy it.

probably because they are associated with CREED and a bunch of other shitty douche bag nu-metal acts.

My brother just ordered a Mark Holcomb Signature SE as he and I are huge Periphery fans (especially of Mark who has influenced his playing style a lot). Will report back when he gets it in his hands.

I have a PRS SE soapbar double cutaway that I got for a song ( about 250 ) when CC music was about to close in Baton Rouge. I used to hate PRS but this is probably my favorite guitar that I play every day. I have several Gibson, Fender and Ibanez guitars, but that cheap PRS plays well, stays in tune and the soapbars are very versatile. No trem on mine and no intonation adjustment as well.

Along with G&L, the Korean made SE's are about the best quality guitar you can get for sub $700. If you upgrade some electronics, you have a stage ready axe that can take a beating but deliver the goods with playability and tone. They are well made guitars.
