I don't hate Nirvana but this worshiping at the Nirvana altar needs to stop.

Worshiping Nirvana hasn't happened in a decade. In fact, the reverse seems to be the pop trend.

Once I started to play the guitar and listen to other bands, their generic song structures and lyrics were a bit overhyped.

This makes you sound like a music snob douche.

I love how when someone discovers music that isn't forced fed to them by the radio they become music snob douches

I bet you like "obscure music" only and drink pbr.

Stereotyping is easy.

If you like it, you like it. Deciding what is "good music" based on radio play, groups you associate with it ..etc..is just silly. It's not snobbery, it's ridiculous.

You would lose every dime you own. First off, I know you know what I'm talking about b/c I've seen you post enough here to know that you are knowledgable enough to venture out from what you ehar on the radio. Secondly, one of the songs I'm hooked on right now is We are Young which happens to be sitting at #1 on the charts. Third, when I drink beer, I drink budweiser, bc this is america and you're a pussy if you drink anything else.

Statements like these are made by people intimidated by others superior knowledge of music. Same can be said of beer snobs. The "cool" thing to do right now is call people who know more than you about a subject is to call them a snob. I call them ignorant.

It was made to highlight the sheer ignorance of stereotyping, as you did.

"Self proclaimed snobs" are usually ignorant, yes. That I agree with.

For real??? To each his own, I suppose.

I'm not ashamed to admit to something that I enjoy. I'll talk obscure bands with you all day, but I wouldn't consider myself a music snob by any means. I might know more than a person who only listens to the radio, but I'm no snob compared to people I have run across. Now, if you only listen to the radio, I think you have an extremely limited knowledge and appreciation for good music and I feel sorry for you.

I have no answer for this thread.

I like the nostalgic feeling of listening to music I liked before I was old enough to drive.

I'm with you there.

I discovered that KISS' studio stuff was pretty terrible. I'm not ready to pan KISS Alive!("Black Diamond" ftw) and KISS ALIVE! II.

Tread very carefully, Junior. John Denver was the man.
