I should also mention the Chapman stick that Tony Levin plays.

Vibraslap.
You can hear it in Sweet Emotion, Crazy Train but most famously in All Long the Watchtower.

Waterphone is up there. I had heard it for years in film scores and not known what it was. Finally, I was watching a movie with my sister, a doctor of music that specializes in percussion, when the effect went by under the dialogue.
“What the hell is that? I’ve been searching forever.”
Without hesitation she said “That’s a Waterphone.”
Check it out: YT Waterphone Demo
Here it is in the beginning score for Ronin 1998: YT

Why did/would someone down vote the B3?

It looks like they're an equal opportunity down voter and just downvoted every post in this thread.

Mellotron.
That’s a good one. I love me some Mellotron, particularly on old King Crimson recordings.
Maybe we should add Frippertronics to the list.

The bassoon...played one when I was in school. Has a very unique, low sound and I can always pick it out in an orchestra.

Ondes martinot.
Radiohead uses the instrument fairly extensively, especially in their Kid A/Amnesiac days. One was also used to provide the "vocals" for the original Star Trek theme.

What in the hell?

Anything connected to a drum set barely makes acceptable noise, much less could be considered a musical instrument. Maybe an instrument of torture for the rest of the band. Lawdy
