and people naturally quit searching for new music as they age it happens to everyone. As long as someone can still respect quality music when they hear it they are not required to enjoy it.

You have great taste in music PJ

I also need to add the Allman Brothers to my list. I can't think of a single day in the past few years that I haven't listened to at least one allman brothers tune

What are those last 3?

dredg are an "art rock" band from Cali. Probably my favorite live band of my generation and some of the most genuinely cool guys you'll meet.

dredg - Same Ol' Road

dredg - Gathering Pebbles (featuring Judgement Day on strings)

dredg - The Ornament (Acoustic)

and for those familiar with Shredding
dredg shreds

Opeth are a death metal turned progressive metal turned progressive band from Sweden. Some of the finest musicians in the world, and I mean that as a near superlative. I won't post too much hard metal, they have plenty of more mellow stuff to ease you in.

Opeth - Nepenthe

Okay, just one heavy one so that you can understand the breadth of Mikael's vocal talents.
Opeth - The Lotus Eater

Now, onto Mew. Mew are a Danish band that I got a chance to randomly see in Vancouver in 2007 or so. They were amazing live. The singer has a very high voice for a guy, and some people get weirdly homophobic about it, but they are a great band and he has wonderful tone control. I also love the dissonance and syncopation that their guitarist uses

Mew - Am I Wry? No

Mew - Snow Brigade (live at the Danish Music Awards)

Mew - Intermezzo (Bo solo) & She Came Home for Christmas *The song starts around 2:45

Mew is a badass pokemon character.

Trent Reznor hand-picked Mew as the lone supporting band on the Nine Inch Nails farewell tour.

i don't agree with this at all...i'm almost 48 and i definitely still make an effort to look for new music...occasionally, that means going back to something old that is "new" to me, but more often than not, it's actually new...when i hear someone my age saying there's no good music now, i realize that they just don't put much effort into looking.

I could be wrong but I can't imagine getting into my late 50s and still digging for music the way I do now. By that time my musical tastes will be defined and the current musical climate will more than likely not be catering to those tastes. Now I'm sure that a band every now and then would cross my path but I think my search would be over.
