Billy Strings?

I’m honestly not sure if I could recall a song I’ve heard of him. I’m sure I have. I’m usually not into the older sounding music, but here lately I’ve been trying to listen to lyrics over the music. I’m only 30 so I’m a youngin

He has a songwriting credit on like 5% of his songs, and all of those are shared. What you actually mean is that there are unknown songwriters in Nashville who know what you would find relatable.

I honestly didn’t know that. I wish whoever it was writing the songs could sing cause I’d like to know the face. His latest album is full of lyrics that spoke right to me.
Edit: just googled it… he has written a lot of his songs and other peoples songs as well. I don’t think this is entirely true.
Also, you basically just described 90% of artist. Everyone isn’t prince and Bob Dylan

Morgan’s are deep too. If you only listen to the ones that make it on the radio then yes you don’t have a good concept of his music.
The radio only plays catchy songs.
it's shitty pop country. it's okay, you're allowed to like it.
but if you want some good shite, there are plenty of people out there making great classic sounding folk country, who are poets.
check out adam carroll, colter wall, tyler childers

You make it easy by Jason Alden was written primarily by Morgan Wallen

It’s not all country pop. If you only hear his radio hits then yes.
Talkin’ Tennessee, Devil Don’t know, Keith Whitley, etc are far from pop. But I understand what you’re saying

It’s not really country at all, it’s a love song with a guitar and a country accent.
I think the problem with old country fans is they feel like their country music is being soiled by the “new country” but i don’t even think it’s country music at all. It’s just country voices singing it.
I wish they wouldn’t label it as county but they have to sell it and it’s the lane that it sells the best in.

I think he's fine. He has some fun tunes, lyrically does drop some truth here and there, and while much of the music is modern and hip hop infused, he does have plenty of legitimately musical songs that are more "true" country. He's just the punching bag for the "I like REAL country music!" people. There are MUCH worse artists to make fun of.

Nicki Minaj has also been around for a long time. Also to a certain demographic that music is real life for them.
Also a lot of that music is made for parties. Background music. It gets played to create an atmosphere it’s not listened to for the lyrics
Yes...it may be relatable to some people. But you said, "His music is successful therefore it’s good."
Which is why I brought up Nicki Minaj...I guess I can see your point that Morgan Wallen is kind of like a white-trash version of Nicki Minaj. I stand corrected.

Yea that’s all I’m saying. I even said it’s not really country music in the OP. It’s like the nickleback of Country music.

Half of the greats were white trash. You seem hateful for no reason.
Elvis died on pills, Whitley drank himself to death, most of the rock and roll legends did cocaine… like what’s your point dick head?

Morgan Wallen is relatable. Dude may be a pos, but his music don’t lie.
I don't know much about him so I won't praise or condemn him but imo country music needs to get back to something like this

Literally the only two words on that list that Morgan sings about is drinking and small town.
I have breaking news for you. Most artist talk about drinking at some point.
Yall have just confirmed to me that you don’t actually listen to 90% of Morgan Wallen’s music. That’s okay you don’t have to. His “radio hits” are because it’s a business and you have to do that to get out there. One of his latest songs “smile” is about how he notices that his girl is finally happy for once cause they went to the bar with friends and she hasn’t looked that happy in a long time and he realizes it’s because of him.
That song is a masterpiece it’s beautiful
