This is quickly becoming one of my favorite AIC songs after rediscovering it from The Charismatic Voice analysis. It's one of their darkest songs which is saying something considering the majority of their library exists in some kind of Gothic novel.

Facelift as a whole is a great, great album. I know Dirt was like their really big "grunge" breakthrough, and that Facelift was still sort of quasi in their cockrock transition, but I love that album. Bleed the Freak is a great song too.

I love all of the Layne era AIC so much. I liked them fine back when I was younger, but I find them being more and more my go to hard rock preference. The Layne / Jerry combo is just simply perfect. "Again" from the self titled album is another great one.

Confusion for me. That song covers the AIC iconic sound, tone, lyrics, etc.

Was there a better aesthetic than 90s rock/grunge bands unplugged in candlelight?

Great song. I've always thought of Dirt as a continuation or even finishing of the LHL story...

I want to taste dirty,
a stinging pistol,
in my mouth, on my tongue.

I want you to scrape me from the walls
and go crazy,
like you made me.

I like Junkhead too, but it's always been a little too ambiguous for me. I mean what is he talking about

Since we’re talking Facelift, give me Sea of Sorrow.

I absolutely love Facelift, too, no matter what music writers say. It’s just a tiny notch below Dirt for my favorite AIC album.

People seem to forget or not know that Facelift came out a full year before Nevermind, and Man in the Box ten months before Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Call me crazy, but I really like "I Know Something 'Bout You" AIC trying to get a little funky. Reminds me of "The Crunge" which also seems to be a love or hate song.

To echo the OP, I have found myself drawn more to "Love Hate Love" recently. Used to just be a meh song for me. But for some reason it seems to resonate with me lately. And I'm not going through relationship issues

No song better encapsulates the wide-ranging emotions one feels when discovering that their spouse/significant other has cheated on them. Layne's ability to convey the progression of those emotions through his music is extraordinary.

I remember hearing Man in the Box late summer 1990 and knew that the game had changed. The 80’s were over.
