If anyone on this board hasn’t checked out this very underrated double album, you won’t be disappointed if you do. Released the same year as Beatles White Album, but didn’t get all the buzz that album got initially. Chock full of great songs, Ray Davies was on a roll. Very great listen!!!

VGPS is my all time favorite album:

The Kinks - "The Village Green Preservation Society"

The Kinks - "Animal Farm"

I don't have the special double album -- what extras has it got?

Here's an extra extra:

The Kinks - "The Village Green Preservation Society" (BBC TV, 1973) -- This version has an added horn section, giving the song an Edwardian brass band quality, as opposed to the genteel folk of the original.

I only own one rock band t-shirt. The Kinks.

God save Donald Duck, Vaudeville and Variety

Most of all, God save the Kinks.

The first Kinks album I heard and still my favourite.

The Kinks, like the Byrds, are often overshadowed by other bands of their era.

My bad, I assumed it was a double Lp as it has so many songs. I have the original venal lp, but I also have the Cd with several additional tracks, mostly just mono versions of the same songs, but also includes the single “Days” which isn’t on the original LP. Love that song.

They were actually released on the same day.

A week later Van Morrison released Astral Weeks. And a week after that, Beggar's Banquet by The Rolling Stones came out.

Have you ever heard that two minute guitar solo Intro of Celluloid Heroes on the One For The Road Live album ? Perfection. How that’s not a classic rock anthem I will never know.

I thought I was a Kinks fan. I don't know any of those songs.

Binged on VGPS and their GH back around summer 2001.

Around the same time, finally got into Tom Waits in more depth.
