That's like saying Nu Metal is synonymous w/ Metal....

Clearly there's two different sounds. If you can't tell the difference your ears suck.

For the life of me I can't understand how anyone can listen to one full song much less an entire album of the shite.

Its more of a fun thing to me. i don't consider it real music that i put in my favorites list but its a fun escape at a show. The only times i have listened to it in the past year is when jogging and it is the shite for that IMO.

That is not converted to piano, when it's already a piano piece. it's just a small piano part repeated over and over and it's in the song as a piano part. Why didn't that piano player play the drop to show the musical mastery of skrillex?

When you program it with Ableton (or whatever he uses), it isn't a piano part.

lol where do you think the music comes from? It just magically appears in Ableton? He wrote the entire song on a keyboard.. how is that not making music?

you would consider me a raver..

but i grew up with alot techno house and trance music not dubstep....

It does take skill to make it, you have to have skill.

As much as i hate skrillex he is talented, this dude worked with the doors on a song.

by saying that it is not hard to make, just discredits this whole rant.
i mean whats the difference between plucking a string and press a button.. yeah this a difference they are both hard.

But yeah agreed, dubstep has ruined edm scene, it brought drugs and douchebags and big corporations. its like rap, shite was good in the early years hit a peak and then turned to shite music.

Dubstep is in that peak phase and going down. 90% dubstep sucks, some of it is good,

This is certainly true, but this dubstep phenomena is the most mainstream "EDM" ( I hate that phrase) movement there has been in quite sometime. As we all know, more mainstream=more douchebags.

Then you have the guys saying "I don't need drugs to have fun at a dubstep show."

the drugs were always there.

it has brought in a lot of douchebags that makes me cringe.

read this article. pretty good article for people that dont like the dubstep movement thats been happening the last few years.

fwiw i dont like dubstep but have been a supporter of the edm scene in br/nola since the late 90s

In my opinion dubstep > house/trance.

Shits way too boring for me, i need more variation in my music than the same fist pumping beat for 5 minutes

Definitely not for me.

I realize that dubstep technically fits the definition of music, but if I were to make a more rigid set of rules for what would qualify as music, dubstub would be one of the first genres to go.

Judging by your moniker and other posts I'm guessing you take the "need drugs to have fun" attitude into everything in your life. Sorry, some of us don't.

you idiots realize most of these guys are actual musicians, right? Skrillex toured with From First to Last, his band, for most of his teen years before going solo.
