Great Podcast.

I'm amazed at how self-taught savvy she was at what 19. to not get railroaded by the record labels when she was becoming a known musician.

I can tell you for sure, 19 year old me would have willingly gotten screwed over for a fraction of the fame and success she experienced.

Her Dad is a smart guy, and he taught her, "if it looks too easy, stay away from it".

First half of the podcast kinda drags. Once she gets into her backstory, it gets really good.

I still don't know if I believe her Mom really took $100 million, unless it is just sitting in a shell company somewhere or she's a compulsive gambler. That money has to go somewhere and Jewel doesn't seem to know a thing about her finances. Her Mom definitely took a lot of money though.

I didn't like Jewel much in the 90s, mainly because I was into hard rock and saw her as kinda lame.

Now, I can appreciate her talent a lot more.

I was very impressed with this. She is so much better than I ever thought. Girls got some range!! I love the part where she "trades licks" with the guitarists.

I just finished the podcast and holy shite. She finished it off with performing "Who Will Save Your Soul" and it was pretty damn awesome.

Great Podcast.
That really was. Her story is crazy but she is super talented as a singer. No doubt that was the best ending of any Joe Rogan podcast ever.

Absolutely incredible someone would not know where that much money was or where it was going. Almost as amazing was turning down a million dollar advance as a teenager.

At 18, Prince didn't sign a record deal until he was allowed by Warner Bros to have full control over his albums, producing, arranging , etc.. and he didn't exactly come from big money either.

It’s a lot of money…BUT

seems it happened over 10 years AND, damn, not sure I’ve listened to someone as successful as her care about money less than she does. It’s genuine. It’s just not something she values like most. Considering the vast perspective she’s accumulated- kinda makes sense?

Impressed with how much she’s given back too. Her work in academia, science and even the tennis academy just resonated with me.

And doesn’t she carry a fantastic conversation. She’s fun but extremely insightful.

She’s a keeper.
