I’ve been learning some Chuck Berry riffs lately, and I’ve come to this conclusion.

Popular music has always been, and always will be a crater that just gets deeper and deeper.
Instead of evolving into the next level it devolves itself further into the crater, and at each level is someone willing to suck it up as the greatest thing ever.
I mean 250 years ago Bach was mind blowing pop music, you’d think that based on the evolution of things that music would have become even more mind blowing. Instead it’s slowly slipped down the spiral with mind blowing peaks and forgettable valleys along the way.
But never has it reached a pinnacle of pinnacles, it’s just a repetitive species of ground breaking genres all headed in the same general direction.
Slowly finding the lowest common denominator with each ground breaking genre.
frick, that’s depressing man. Music hasn’t evolved in centuries. It’s just devolved to fit in our window of taste.
We’ve all ruined music.

"Roll over Bach" does not work. Chuck knew this.

And at the bottom of that crater, on the lowest level, you will find Nickelback and Evanescence.

Ah, the good old days. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I’d also liked to know that.

I know, man, it's like, all harmony, rhythm and melody.
