When this song came out, how many Rednecks do you think actually believed that it was 5:00 somewhere regardless of the time of day?

I think you are over thinking it a bit. It means its in the 5 o'clock hour somewhere, which is true.

I'm not sure but it certainly gave everyone a perfectly valid excuse to drink a cold one at 8 a.m. or whenever.

I live by the motto or creedo or whatever "that it's noon somewhere"

Probably the same crowd that loves the Red Solo Cup.

Well it's only 5'oclock somewhere whenever we are on the hour, every other time it will be like 5:04 or something.

Actually stopped talking to a girl, only because she said that was her favorite song. I shouldn't be so judgmental though with my mix of classic rock, rap and dubstep currently in my truck

When I was 10 or 11 I used to go to my buddy Matt's house because he had cable and my parents were cheap and didn't. TBS always had shows on at 5 past the hour. I said I wondered why that was and he said it was probably because Atlanta's time zone was 5 minutes ahead of ours.

I remember my dad taking me duck hunting in the North, and back in the day there were actual booklets printed up as to when you could get your last shot off. If memory serves me correctly, you could adjust the time depending how many miles away from the time zone you were. In other words, if you were halfway between the time zones, your County (Parish for those keeping score in the South) could still hunt until half past the hour, so there is some validity in this. Anyone else remember this? Ah, but I digress...

It's also 4:20 somewhere too.
