I knew you would say them. But one follower is not mainstream. Wouldn't you agree?

Like I said, It's more mainstream in the north. I've never been since it's so far away. Camp bisco for new yorkers and new englanders is as mainstream to them as waka and hangout is to us. The lineup has even become more mainstream with acts like bassnectar, passion pit, sts9, umphreys mcgee, animal collective, mackelmore, toro y moi.

Arguing with Phish fans puts me off of the band.

At the start of this thread, after reading the article, I was planning on listening to them when I get home today.

Now, not so much.

I mean the state park is a few miles down the road but most people stay in condos. Which is the tits. And after the last headliner all the bars and restaurants get packed out. Lots of fun

I meant that a single group doing the solo fest did not make the solo fest idea mainstream.

Both fan bases are pretty much the same when defending their band.

not true at all. just look at the line ups. and there are much bigger festivals in the northeast than camp bisco, like mountain jam and gathering of the vibes.

The lineup for camp bisco has a lot of big names, some of which are pretty good and well known. I know you'll disagree because you are older and have different tastes. It might not be as big as mountain jam as far as camping festivals go but it's probably the biggest electronic music festival in the country outside of ultrafest, which also makes it mainstream IMO. For the younger new england crowd, camp bisco is mainstream these days. This will be its 13th year.

I'm far from closed minded. I don't think The Grateful Dead are the end all be all. And if someone disagrees with me that they are the greatest jam band, that's fine. I'm not going to get angry and in their face about it.

I've never understood why people have this Dead vs Phish problem. They can coexist.

And again, closed minded? I listen to Phish pretty regularly and commented as to liking them in this thread. Does that mean I have to think they invented anything? No. They took what was invented and ran with it. They put the gear shift in the high gear of their soul.
