If you ask anyone in the country music business they would say he was/is a legend.

Dwight is awesome and puts on a great show, saw him a few years back.

I believe Mary Chapin Carpenter's song "Opening Act" is about him. Subtle (not so subtle) shot. Opening Act

North To Alaska

With a bonus Burning Ring of Fire.

I’ve seen him 3 times over the last 20 years and he puts on an incredible show.

living legend

Can't listen to that and criticize the man.

Even Johnny Cash credited Dwight as being one of his favorites.

Dwight is the best and purest voice in country music of the last 35 years. I own his entire catalog.

Not a legend in the vein of Waylon, Merle or Buck. Yet.

You’ve contradicted yourself in the same breath.

Dwight Yoakam is nothing without Pete Anderson and Punkin.

ETA: The 3 that downvoted me obviously don't know who Pete or Punkin are. They also don't know the story. Pete was the guitar player. When Dwight got started, he slept on Pete's couch, and they went to gigs using Pete's parent's van. Pete also produced most of Dwight's albums.

Punkin is Dwight's road manager. Dwight is OCD, almost to the point of being non-functional. Punkin keeps Dwight functional.

Dwight and Pete parted ways for the oldest reason in the world. Money.

They should bury the hatchet

First thing I thought of when I saw the thread title was Johnny Cash being a huge fan of Dwight Yoakam
